Activity

Easy cycle ride from Uxbridge to Burnham via Eton Dorney, mostly on traffic-free route. We will pass through the scenic Bucks countryside, mainly along Sustrans Route 61 via village lanes and Grand Union Canal and the Jubilee River. We will explore the Dorney Lake, the Olympic rowing course and Eton village with the famous school and 12th century church. Aiming for pub lunch at the famous Pineapple Inn, named after the first pineapple to be grown in England, in the orchard next door, in 1661. We then head north, passing Burnham Abbey (may be able to visit the remaining medieval buildings of the Augustinian Order) and on to Burnham Station for trains back to London.

Travel

Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines to Uxbridge. Free parking near start. Train back from Burnham to Paddington, stops at West Drayton (short ride to Uxbridge if parking at start).
