Activity

A 7-mile stroll along the north bank of the Thames, taking in the recently renovated Naked Ladies statues in York House Gardens, the exterior of Marble Hill House, Richmond Lock, Syon Park and the jumble of boatyards at Brentford. Lunch stop at Syon House cafe, or alternatively brief libations at the London Apprentice riverside pub in Old Isleworth. Good footpaths for entire walk. Possible / optional 1-mile extension at the end of the walk to visit the tomb of Thomas Gainsborough in the graveyard of St Anne's Church on Kew Green, and a visit to the original Maids of Honour cafe in Kew.

Travel

Outbound: Train from London Waterloo to Twickenham (Zone 5) via Clapham Junction and Richmond. Suggested train 10:28 from Waterloo arriving Twickenham 10:52. Return: Train from Kew Bridge (Zone 3) to London Waterloo via Clapham Junction, or regular 65 bus from Kew Bridge to Ealing Broadway. End point is also 15 minutes walk to Gunnersbury Station (District and Mildmay lines).
