Activity
This 10-mile linear walk takes in several Oxfordshire villages along the Thames. After leaving Radley village we follow the Thames Path to arrive at the ancient Thameside town of Abingdon. An important Roman town, Abingdon has its own abbey and many historic buildings. Lots of pubs and bakeries for lunch. We cross the Thames to Aldersey Island and head south to Culham village. We cross the Thames at the lock and arrive at the scenic village of Sutton Courtney which boasts several manors, a village green, abbey residence, and village inns. At the church we can visit the graves of George Orwell, Asquith (PM) and David Astor who headed the Observer newspaper from 1950s to 1970s. We then follow tracks to the end at Didcot. Pub and cafe at station. No hills on route.
