Activity
This 9-mile walk follows the Thames Path from Reading to Shiplake. Very scenic section passing islands, locks and historic towns. We join the Thames at Caversham Lock with the wide meadows extending to the Kennet Canal. We will stop for lunch at Sonning, with several pubs and bakeries. The stone bridge is one of the oldest on the Thames. We can visit the mill and church. We then continue east towards Sonning village. We will visit the 12th century church with rare medieval stained glass from an abbey in France. Last leg is to Shiplake Station, with pub next door. Good footpaths entire length; all level as river path.
