Activity
This social event takes us to "Richmond's Answer to Regent's Park Theatre". The Richmond Shakespeare Society takes over the Italian gardens at York House for their ever-popular annual open-air production. This year's production is "A Midsummer Night's Dream", Shakespeare's most magical tale set in a forest full of fantasy. A riotous tale of magic and mayhem unfolds over a single summer's night. Four lovers, a feuding king and queen of the fairies, and six amateur actors become embroiled in each other's stories as confusion reigns in the woods. Hearts are bewitched, friendships tested and promises broken - will true love win out in the end? The play is performed with the background of the fountains and statues in the beautiful surroundings of Twickenham's Fountain Gardens alongside the Thames. The riverside Italian gardens open from 6:00pm for picnics. People can take in the views of the fountains and the rest of the gardens, before the play commences at 7:45pm. We are meeting at the stage entrance inside the gardens at 6:30pm. People can arrive later and find us inside.
