Activity
A 6-mile walk via the wonderful Bluebell Railway in the scenic Sussex countryside. Today the Bluebell Railway are hosting their "Southern at War" festival as it is the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Our route includes the stunning Kingscote Valley with its vineyard, medieval manor and sandstone rocks (great for climbing skills). Walk will take in William Morris-inspired Standen House with its beautiful hillside gardens. Great picnic location and a tea shop of course. The Bluebell festival has military re-enactors and live music at all four preserved stations. Great display of 1940s vehicles including a very rare Afrika Corps motorcycle and side car. We can visit the Spitfire on display and take in the Home Guard (Pike with his scarf) and the singing and dancing performances. Flypast by Battle Of Britain Memorial Fleet. Many vintage stalls and opportunity to try out the assault course. Chance to see the "Beachy Head", a new-build steam locomotive just completed by the Bluebell.
