Activities
Our city break this year takes place in Chester staying at YHA Chester Trafford Hall.
Friday: After check in we plan a 4-mile circular walk from the hostel.
Saturday: We plan a 9-mile walk. Route from the hostel following the road for a short distance towards Mikle Trafford where we will then follow the route of a disused railway into the centre of the city. On arrival we will then make our way up onto the city walls. Chester is the only city in Britain that retains the full circuit of its ancient defensive walls. We will walk the complete circuit giving views down into the city and a fantastic insight into Chester's long history. After completing the circuit we will spend a short time wandering around the town before catching bus X30 back to hostel, journey 16 minutes.
Sunday: After checking out we get the X30 bus into Chester for a stroll around this vibrant city and visit to Chester Cathedral before our journey back home.
Refreshments
Hostel cafe / bar has an array of refreshments and snacks. Hostel offers all meals. Hostel has a very small self-catering kitchen, microwave and kettles. Recommend to bring packed lunch for Saturday's walk, lots of cafes / pubs at end of walk.
Travel
Trains from London Euston to Chester approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes. Bus X30 from station to hostel (buses are every hour). Arranging lifts is an individual responsibility and is not arranged by leader.
Accommodation
We will be staying at the YHA Chester Trafford Hall which was originally built in 1756 and combines the grandeur of a glorious Georgian house. With a spacious lounge, games room and 14 acres of organic grounds to explore. All rooms are en-suite. YHA Chester Trafford Hall, Chester, CH2 4JP.
