Activity
This 7-mile walk is a trek across central London devised for Black History Month from the Windrush Memorial in Waterloo in the south east to Grenfell Tower in the north west. Armed with stories researched by a UCL lecturer about the lives of a number of highly significant black campaigners, we will visit the statue of Mary Seacole at St Thomas's Hospital, cross to Westminster Green to hear about some leading 17th and 18th century anti-slavery campaigners and their remarkable influence. We will then head up to Paddington and continue forward via time travel 200 years to hear about some significant events which led to the start of the Notting Hill Carnival in the 1960s. Crossing through parts of Maida Vale, we will finish at the Grenfell Tower.
