Activity
Our 90th anniversary walk takes in one of the most historic parts of the Chiltern Hills. The route takes in several places which featured in the group's history. This is a 10-mile circular walk starting from Beaconsfield village. Route will take in rolling wooded hills of south Chilterns AONB. Our lunch stop will be at the unspoilt village of Chalfont St Giles which has 3 historic pubs to choose from. Many group walks have stopped at this scenic village. We pass the Milton House (home of John Milton of 'Paradise Lost' fame). We will then follow the Misbourne Valley trail before stopping at the Quaker village of Jordans. We can visit the grounds of the manor and the historic buildings (home of William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania). We will visit Jordans Youth Hostel where the group were volunteer custodians from the 50s to the 70s. At the end of the walk there is the option for a visit to a tea shop where the group enjoyed tiffin after many walks. Short cut option: walkers can shorten walk to 7 miles by ending at Seer Green Station (1 stop before Beaconsfield).
