Date

Activity

This very scenic 7-mile linear walk crosses the gently rolling Oxfordshire countryside, stopping at country villages along the way. We will stop to admire the iconic view of Oxford's 'dreaming spires' from Boar's Hill. We will then pass through the nature reserve known by the locals as 'Happy Valley'. There will be the opportunity to visit the Oxford Lido (not open at this time of year), site of the old Oxford gasworks. We will then visit the charming villages of South and North Hinksey. In North Hinksey there will be the chance to survey the road constructed by a workforce of student volunteers under the leadership of John Ruskin, as well as The Fishes pub in its bucolic riverside setting. We can visit the medieval church of Saint Lawrence before following a country path into central Oxford for a wander around some of the historic colleges. Possible extension to the recently opened Schwarzman Centre.
