A 7 mile circular walk along the Thames and through the surrounding countryside from the delightful village of Cookham. Our route takes in Boulters Lock where, in Edwardian times, hundreds of boats would gather to sail to Ascot. Boulters Island was once the home of the late Richard Dimbleby. We can view Cliveden House and gardens from the river. Walk will cross meadows and woods before returning to Cookham. Option to visit the famous Stanley Spencer Art Gallery (Spencer lived here all his life), and lots of pubs and tea shops in the village. Easy walk and mostly level route.
Please bring a packed lunch and water. Option to stop at pub at end of walk.
Cookham is on main line from Paddington (change at Maidenhead). Free parking near station.
