To celebrate St George's Day we are visiting Pinner for the traditional wheelbarrow race and St George's Day festival. Pinner High Street is closed to traffic to host the event; live entertainment, food stalls and the festival parade of competitors in fancy dress. The race starts around 3pm and involves teams in fancy dress (one person sitting in the wheel barrow, one person pushing) racing around the heritage area of Pinner, stopping for half a pint (both team members) at six pubs. The race has been an annual tradition since 1963 and all proceeds are raised for a local charity. We will be handing out HAWOG cards to all the locals for recruitment on the day.
The Queens Head pub has a staggering 23 lagers, ciders and ales on tap with the alcohol free range extending to 7 lagers, 3 ciders and real ale. Locally produced beef burgers in baps will be served on the day.
