9.5 mile circular walk from Wheathampstead. Generally an easy going walk with very gentle slopes. Initially, we head to Ayot St Lawrence along the Hertfordshire Way, this first waymark is George Bernard Shaw's former home (Shaw's Corner). The second stretch heads to Ayot Green passing through open stretches and woodland, finally we head through Brocket Park affording fine views as we head back along the river Lea to the starting point. Pace about 2mph.
Bring a packed lunch. There are pubs, but they come at the one third and two third marks as well as at Wheathampstead.
No direct rail link, however there is a Thameslink train at West Hampstead at 8:59 to Harpenden then wait to get the 9:52 straight to Wheathampstead, arriving at 10:04. By car: A1 then B653 onto the High Street, then B651 to the church.
