Activity

This 10 mile walk takes in some of the most picturesque villages in the Chiltern hills, Fingest, Turville, Skirmett and Frieth. We start from Lane End and head through commons and fields till reaching the village of Frieth. Climbing up to woodlands we have a great view downhill over Fingest and St Bartholomew church. After exploring the 12th century church with its very rare Rhineland style gables we continue uphill. At the summit we can take in the views from Cobstone Windmill, featured in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and other films. We descend to the picture postcard village of Turville which was the setting for Vicar of Dibley. Its church, green and pub have featured in many dramas including Killing Eve and Midsomer Murders. The walk continues through the hamlet of Skirmett and onto Parmoor. These lands were all owned by the Knights Templar until their exile. Our final stop is St Katherines Parmoor which has been a 16th century manor, the home of King Zog and a convent. Now it is a writing retreat and wedding venue. The walk has several climbs.
