Activity

Easy 18 mile cycle ride from Uxbridge to Eton Dorney and Burnham. We are meeting for breakfast at the new cycle hub in Uxbridge, the Rusty Bike Café. We will pass through the scenic Bucks countryside, mainly along Sustrans Route 61 via village lanes and off road built up tracks. It takes in the Grand Union Canal, Thames Path and Jubilee River. We will explore Dorney Lake, the Olympic rowing course plus Eton village with the Public School and 12th century church. Aiming for late afternoon pub lunch at the famous Pineapple Inn (named after the first pineapple to be grown in England, in the orchard next door, in 1661). We then head north, passing Burnham Abbey (may be able to visit the remaining medieval buildings of the Augustinian Order) and on to Burnham station for trains back to London.
