Activity

We are walking the Thames Path from Maidenhead to Windsor with the option of returning by river steamer. This 7 mile walk is flat and full of interest. We start by Brunel's railway viaduct, the largest brick arch bridge in the world at that period. We will pass several large mansions and boat houses on the south bank before reaching Dorney. Here we can explore the famous Eton rowing lakes, our lunch stop, and the abandoned 12th century Saint Mary Magdalene Chapel. After passing Windsor Racecourse we will view the impressive castle dominating the town. Once in Windsor we will do a short walk around the historical sights with an option of crossing to Eton as well. Walkers can catch train back to London from here or take the ferry at 4:00pm back to Maidenhead. Ferry has bar and roof deck to enjoy the views. Boat arrives back at Maidenhead 5:45pm.

Refreshments

We plan a picnic lunch at Dorney Lakes. Tea shops and pubs in Windsor.
