A perfect summer day walk from Oxford to Abingdon with the option of returning by ferry. The walk starts from Oxford station and follows the Isis (name for Thames in Oxford) for 9 miles to Abingdon passing many locks, rowing clubs, churches and wild flower meadows along the way. We will have a picnic lunch near the charming village of Sandford (riverside Kings Arms pub as possible drinks stop). At Abingdon there is time to visit the famous Abbey and the rose gardens with a pub stop before we board the boat. The ferry departs Abingdon at 4:45pm to arrive back at Oxford at 6:30pm.
