Romans and Abbey Walk

Walk free to members, £10 supplement for attendees from Meetup. £9 for cathedral and tower tour.


This is a day out in St Albans, a cathedral city with extensive Roman remains. The 5 mile walk will take in all the Roman sites including sections of the city wall, an excavated theatre and hypocaust and the museum. We will also take in the Abbey grounds and Gorhambury estate. Option to join leader for private tour of the Cathedral (founded in 11th century) and a rare chance to climb to the roof and the tower for panoramic views of Hertfordshire. St Albans City station is on Thameslink line from London. St Albans Abbey station is on branch line from Watford (15 minutes walk to start). Limited free parking in nearby streets.
