We are cycling the South Downs National Trail (Bridleway) from Hassocks to Eastbourne. The trail is roughly 20 miles and involves several climbs and fast descents. We will stop at Ditchling Beacon, Firle Beacon and the Long Man of Wilmington. Route will pass through the villages of Rodmell (home of Virginia Woolf), Alfriston and Jevington. Stunning views from highest point at the Beacons. The South Downs Bridleway takes in an alternative end section to the Seven Sisters footpath option. We finish at Eastbourne where we can have fish and chips by the beach and visit the famous pier. Off road bikes required.
Café at start. Picnic at Ditchling Beacon, tea shop at Alfriston, pubs and cafes at end point.
Buy return ticket to Eastbourne. Train from Victoria to Hassocks, return Eastbourne to London. We are taking 9:54 service from Shepherds Bush to Hassocks via Clapham Junction. Meet at Shepherds Bush Overground station at 9:45 if wishing to get group discount ticket. See train line website for all services.
