Activity

A 6-mile easy walk from scenic Little Venice, along the Regents Canal to Notting Hill via hidden alleyways and footpaths ending at the unique Museum of Brands and Advertising. We will take in the canal surroundings from Little Venice to North Kensington. We then head past the famous Trellick Tower with its own community vintage shops and café. The tower, Grade II listed is the masterpiece of the Brutalist architect Goldfinger. We then walk through the Portuguese quarter of Golborne Road before crossing into Notting Hill. Our route will take in the film locations for Love Actually, Notting Hill, Scandal and Performance. We can see the Island Records Studios, and the houses of the many music legends who lived there (including Lemmy, Joe Strummer, Joe Meek, Marc Bolan and Mark Knopfler). We can see the first cinema opened in England (where a local serial killer worked as projectionist). The trail takes in location for Pink Floyd's first performances, the tragic ends of Jimi Hendrix and Paula Yates, and the location of Rillington Place of Christie fame. We end the walk at the Museum of Brands. The museum is great for history, design art, popular culture and fans of vintage. It features over 12,000 original items from the Robert Opie Collection and shows how well-loved brands evolved through their creative use of packaging and advertising - and how we evolved with them. Museum shop has great selection of unique nostalgia gifts.
