Homefield Wood and Pullings Hill Wood

Free to members, £6 supplement for attendees from Meetup

This 8 mile circular walk starts from the elegant Thameside town of Marlow and takes in surrounding hills. Homefield Wood hosts a pine plantation as well as mixed broadleaf woodland including some older species of coppiced trees, beech, ash, sycamore and white beam with glades and open grassland. Wild orchid flourish in both woodland and grassland. Tawny owls can often be heard calling during the day. Fallow, muntjac and roe deer are also regular visitors to the reserve. The walk takes us along the Chiltern Way which is a 172 mile circular footpath. We will enter Pullingshill Wood which has many claims to fame including featuring in the 1996 film 101 Dalmatians and the First World War practice trenches. We will end the walk with a visit to the famous Royal Oak in Bovingdon Green, before our walk back to the train station. The route includes several climbs.

Bring packed lunch and water. We will stop at pub on route.

Marlow is on mainline from Ealing and Paddington. Free parking near start.
