Grims Dyke and London Loop Walk

Debi is leading her first walk for the group. A 7 mile linear walk, along section 15 of the London Loop from Hatch End to Stanmore. The walk takes in the estate of Grims Dyke Hotel, the famous Norman Shaw designed home of Sir William Gilbert of Gilbert and Sullivan fame. The gardens feature several giant redwood trees and colourful rhododendrons. Option for picnic stop at panoramic viewpoint from summit of Old Redding. Route continues into Bentley Priory common passing the famous headquarters of Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain. After a stop at the deer park we will end the walk in Stanmore where there are several pubs and cafes to stop at. Route is easy walking on mostly level ground.

Hatch End is on Overground from Harrow and Wealdstone, also regular buses to start. Stanmore station is on Jubilee line, can return to Harrow changing at Wembley Park for Metropolitan line. Regular buses back to Hatch End (10 minutes) and to other areas. Limited free parking near start point.
