Our social event this month sees us roaming through 900 years of history at Dover Castle, from the Romans to the twentieth century, in an action-packed day out. Perched on top of the White Cliffs of Dover, Dover Castle is the largest fortress in England and has been described as the Key to England due to its strategic importance. The castle complex is spread over 17 buildings and a labyrinth of tunnels beneath the castle, all open to visitors. We can walk along the battlements for stunning views along the coast and explore the WW2 tunnels including restored military hospital and command centre. The castle presents re-enactments of medieval jousts and banquets within the Norman Great Hall.
