Come and join us for a Sunday evening in Kensington. Our venue is the lovely restaurant Dishoom with a difference, bringing back the atmosphere and design of the Irani cafés from art deco era Bombay. Opened by Zoroastrian immigrants from Iran, there were almost four hundred cafés at their peak in the 1960s. Now, fewer than thirty remain. These cafés broke down barriers by bringing people together over food and drink. They were the first places in Bombay where people of any culture, class or religion could take cool refuge from the street with a cup of chai, a simple snack or a hearty meal. Dishoom is located in the iconic Barkers building and the interiors of the restaurant evoke the art deco jazz age of Bollywood. Dishoom draws upon the legacy of the Irani café with an all day menu of Indian dishes with an Anglo infusion - the Lentil Mulligatawny is a perfect example.
Restaurant serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
High Street Kensington station is 5 minutes from venue. District and Circle lines.
