A 7 mile linear walk over country tracks and paths, following the Darent Valley as it cuts through the North Downs. Starting at Eynsford with its watersplash through the river Darent, we will ascend the only hill of note, affording fine views of the valley and handsome Victorian viaduct. We will pass Lullingstone Castle, built in 1497 and still home to the same family - one careful owner! Thence past Lullingstone Country Park and onwards to the pretty village of Shoreham for a brief lunch stop. Finishing at Otford.
Lunch stop at Shoreham after approx. 4.5 miles. Advised to bring picnic as time will be limited, but choice of 1 pub or 2 tea rooms for quick refreshment. Final refreshments at Otford, where there is a choice of pubs and tea rooms.
By rail, both stations are on mainline from Victoria. Buy off-peak day return to Otford. Drivers can park at either station and take train 1 stop to other end of the walk.
