£58 per person (including supplement) for bed in single sex dorm, to include tea / coffee / milk plus accommodation. All meals including dinner on Friday and Saturday night will be an additional cost on top of this amount.


Friday - Arrival at bunkhouse and orientation.

Saturday - 10:00am start. 8-10 mile walk from hostel through Amberley, Burpem and North Stoke. We will be taking in the sights of Amberley Working Museum, a 36 acre open-air museum dedicated to the industrial heritage of the south east. The main chalk quarry at the museum is famous for being the location of the mine in the James Bond film View to Kill. Option to take a shorter 5.6 mile route by cutting out Burpham village. Saturday night will involve traditional Christmas dinner at the pub, less than 200 yards from the hostel - cost to be confirmed but likely to be around £30 per person. Drinks and dancing at the hostel with secret santa making a special appearance. Knees are meant to be sat upon.

Sunday - After clearing up the hostel, option to drive to Arundel to visit the Castle on our return home. Prices to enter castle range between £13 - £22 for full access per person. Otherwise to enjoy the picturesque lake and Arundel village for free.


Tea and coffee are provided by us and the bunkhouse can also supply a continental breakfast pack with bread, butter, jam, cereal/porridge and fruit juice for £5. Book this in advance direct with the bunkhouse if you would like to order this option. Saturday night Christmas dinner is arranged with additional cost around £30 at the local pub.


The hamlet of Houghton is within easy walking distance of Amberley station. Trains from London to Amberley every 30 minutes cost £26 return. Car share may be available via the HAWOG forum. Please contact the forum direct if required.


South Downs Bunkhouse, Houghton Farm, Houghton, Arundel BN18 9LW. There are 20 bed spaces in total, three of the rooms have two bunks and one has four. We have sole occupancy of the bunkhouse. Customers are required to bring their own sleeping bag and towel. A pillow is provided. A duvet, sheet and towel can be provided at a cost of £4 per night. For those not wanting to experience the full christmas dorm adventure, there is a B&B close by.
