Activities
We have booked exclusive hire of YHA Cheddar for an autumn break of walking in Somerset. New YHA guidance requires exclusive hire to be for 3 nights; however people can depart on Sunday if required.
Friday - Relaxing day getting to know your surroundings in the Victorian house and the little village of Cheddar with its historic buildings.
Saturday - We plan an 8 mile walk starting over the fabulous Gorge with stunning views of Cheddar, Glastonbury Tor, the Somerset Levels and Bridgewater Bay. We will pass many wooden marker posts (keep a look out) as this was the site of many of the cliff scenes from the film 'Jack the Giant Slayer'. After our descent we head into the Gorge to a beautifully lit underground cathedral. We then walk up the 274 steps of Jacobs Ladder to the tower for panoramic views. Lots of places to eat and try out the fabulous cheese selection.
Sunday - We plan a leisurely 6 mile walk around the city of Wells, England's smallest city. The walk will include Wells Cathedral, the first cathedral in Europe designed solely in the Gothic style; Vicars Close, Europe's oldest medieval planned street; the distinctive moated Bishops Palace and St Cuthberts Church, Somerset's largest parish church, so grand that people often mistake it for Wells Cathedral. On Silver Street we can make a stop at Bishops Barn; in the 1970's it was used as a live music venue with Slade and Status Quo playing here. We plan an evening meal at the Barn Hotel.
Monday - After de-bunking, we plan a trip to Glastonbury village and Abbey, with option to climb to the summit of Glastonbury Tor.

You may then inform the organiser if you want to be added to a waiting list and/or submit another booking which meets one of the possibilities. A waiting list means you get informed soonest if suitable places or rooms become available, it does not commit you to purchasing them but you will need to confirm, and book, in a short period of time if you want them.
