Activities

We are planning a diverse weekend of fun, fun and more fun on the last bank holiday in May. There is so much to do in this part of the world. The campsite is situated within Dartmoor National Park and is a few miles from the Devon Riviera. We are planning on doing the following:

  • 10 mile walk through eastern section of Dartmoor National Park. Tor to Tor walk featuring great viewpoints.
  • Circular 10km cycle from Princetown (can hire bicycles from there) which takes in Kings Tor. There is an option of extending this to 30km if you wish.
  • Day trip to Dawlish, which is a 30 minute drive away. We will lead a 7 mile spectacular walk along the South West Coastal Path to Dawlish Warren nature reserve with train back. Dawlish has a lovely sandy beach.
  • Seeing the Canonteign Falls one day - highest man made waterfalls, lakes and tiffin £7.50 per person. 20 minute walk from site.
  • 2 miles away is Bovey Tracey, a model National Park town with a few quaint shops, food shops, a few more pubs, take-aways and a craft centre along with a lovely park that you can walk the river Teign by. A walk on the river Teign is planned.
Please bring all usual camping equipment including tent, cutlery, torches etc. We have spare camping equipment (tents etc.) which can be borrowed if arranged in advance.

Glamping option - The campsite also offers glamping option (to be booked direct with site): if you fancy camping with a bit of 'glamour' they offer glamping in a 'Bell tent'.

Refreshments

The campsite has a 'Tea Shed' where you can make 'free' tea and coffee. The campsite is near to the village of Hennock and a two minute walk to the local pub called the Palk Arms. They have an 'honesty' shop with the staples and we are allowed camp fires and barbecues. We plan to have a barbecue most nights plus option for pub as has amazing ales and an excellent menu.

Travel

Easiest way is by car. Directions below. Car share through forum. There is an option of Great Western train from Paddington to Exeter, then Bus H and Bus 39 brings you to Bovey Tracey, which is 2 miles from campsite.
